Will Serbia Adopt a New Law on State Aid Control?

Serbia is on its way to adopt a new law on state aid control, as well as bylaws, which will make Serbia fully compliant with EU rules.

This project is linked to the opening of the Chapter 8 ″Competition Policy″.

The purpose of the new law is to more closely regulate state aid issues and procedures governing the control and recovery of state aid. A special focus will be put on how members of the Commission for Control of State Aid are appointed, with the aim of achieving greater independence of the Commission.

The question of state aid is important because of its economic effects and the potential risk of corruption, misuse and competition disruptions.

This law should bring Serbia closer to an improved administrative capacity and optimize the use of budgetary funds which will then stimulate investments, public expenditure, job creation and ultimately economic and social growth.
